Technology glitch thwarts Romeo
It's a 21st-century tale of star-crossed lovers, kept apart not by a family feud but by a technology glitch.
Playing the part of Romeo is Hayato Clarke, 18, who met his Juliet while she was out dancing at Goodluck bar in Cuba St, Wellington, on Wednesday.
Her name was Courtney, and "she looked like she had some good moves", the Victoria University science student said.
They danced, ended the night with a kiss, and Courtney entered her number into his phone.
"I thought I'd saved it there, but then later on I looked at my phone to check her number but it turned out I hadn't," he said. "I was a bit gutted. I looked down and I was like ‘oh no'."
Courtney, a pretty Asian girl, had her hair down that night and was wearing a black dress.
He's keen to meet her again - and if she feels the same way, she should visit the bar's Facebook page, where he has left a message for her.
He did not want to put pressure on her but he was worried she might feel he had deliberately not contacted her.
"I felt bad about the fact I'd said I'd text her, and then I didn't."
And if he does manage to track her down? "I'd probably just ask her for another dance."
