More than 2500 people lapped up the old favourites at the annual Newtown Carols at Government House in Wellington last night.
Among the revellers were Galu Taufale and 2-year-old son Madden, who listened as the 50-piece Royal New Zealand Air Force Band performed along with the Newtown Community Choir and opera tenor Ben Makisi.
It was the first time the annual carolling festivities have been held in the grounds of Government House, having been held in nearby Newtown Park in previous years. T
icket sales from the event raised money for the Life Flight Trust and Ronald McDonald House. The amount raised is yet to be finalised.
