Wellington dancer Emma McBeth, 18, has made the finals of the prestigious Genee International Ballet Competition at St James Theatre, Wellington.
She was the only Wellington competitor, and one of six New Zealanders selected for the final tomorrow night.
The Royal Academy of Dance competition is known as the Olympics for dance, and 12 out of 70 entrants from all over the world will compete for bronze, silver and gold.
This is the first time the annual competition has been held in New Zealand. It has previously been staged in London, Athens, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Toronto and Cape Town.
