A Wellington man missing for nearly a month may be in Christchurch, police say.

Morton Broughton, 43, was last seen on November 26 when he told friends he was planning a trip to the South Island.

He had not touched his bank accounts or contacted anyone for more than three weeks, Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard said.

"People that know Morton were and remain concerned for him.’’

Mr Broughton was described as Maori, with a tattoo of a red rose on the left side of his neck, Ms Howard said.

Anyone with information should contact Wellington Police on 04 381 2000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
