Firefighters battle Hutt blaze

Dozens of fire-fighters were called in to battle a blaze near Upper Hutt last night.

The fire broke out in a three hectare area of bush off Maidstone Terrace at about 9.15pm, a Fire Service spokeswoman said.

Dozens of fire fighters from around the Hutt Valley fought the blaze in windy conditions.

A total of 14 fire trucks went to the fire, seven from the Fire Service and seven from Volunteer Rural Fire Fighters.

The fire was brought under control at about 10.30pm.

No property or houses were damaged.

The cause of the blaze will be investigated.
