A woman who fell at least two storeys to a central Wellington carpark last week died in hospital this morning.
Ambulance spokesman David Ross said it appeared the woman, 25, had fallen from two storeys up on Friday and was taken to Wellington Hospital with critical injuries.
A Wellington Hospital spokesman said the woman, who had been in the hospital's intensive care unit since Friday, died early this morning.
A man who lives in the second-floor flat the woman had been trying to reach, said she had climbed a fire escape at the rear of the Garrett St building about 6.30am.
It was believed she had tried to knock at the door but nobody heard her.
She then tried to scale a drainpipe to the roof of the building but slipped and fell.
