Stuck truck
A large amount of grain has spilled and extensive delays are expected after a truck jack-knifed and got wedged under a bridge at Aotea Quay.

A large truck and trailer unit jack-knifed and wedged itself under a bridge this morning, spilling a large amount of grain and causing extensive delays.

Inspector Mike Coleman said police were called the scene of the crash at Aotea Quay, Wellington about 11.40am.

A truck and trailer unit was blocking the northbound Aotea on-ramp and would likely cause delays for some time, Mr Coleman said.

"It sounds like a very big truck. Normally they can pull them out with a tow, but it depends how far it's wedged in."

Traffic was diverted over Hutt Rd.

A large amount of grain being carried by the truck was spilt during the crash.

The driver suffered cuts to a leg and hand.

The Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit has been called to investigate.

The on-ramp had since been reopened.
