Power is back on for the more than 1600 Newtown businesses and homes affected by a cut this morning.
The power fault at Palm Grove substation happened about 11.20am and most of those affected were back in business within 20 minutes.
Wellington Hospital used a back-up generator until power was restored.
Trolley bus services in the area were also affected resulting in delays.
Wellington Electricity spokesman Hugo Armstrong said the 1650 customers included most of Adelaide Rd and the Newtown shopping centre.
