Significant delays were being experienced by both southbound and northbound commuters from Petone to Wellington after a two-car crash this evening.
A nose-to-tail crash about 4.50pm blocked one southbound lane of SH2 near the Ngauranga Interchange and, although cleared after about an hour, it caused long delays.
As well as delays to southbound commuters as far as Petone, northbound commuters as far back as Boulcott St were being stalled.
Southbound queues were reported to have cleared by about 6.30pm.
Police communications Inspector Marty Parker said two ambulances and tow trucks were dispatched by emergency services to the crash.
A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said three people were treated at the scene with minor injuries.
