Delays can be expected to continue on the Rimutaka Hill Road on Tuesday while resealing work is carried out.
An 800-metre section on the Featherston side will have stop/go controls outside peak hours, and contractors will be working during the day between 9am and 4pm.
The resealing is designed to provide a safer and more resistant surface. Further safety programmes being completed over the next four months include about 3.5km of guardrail being constructed at various locations on Rimutaka Hill.
Minor delays are expected during this time and commuters should allow for an extra five minutes as part of their journey.
A temporary 50kmh speed limit on State Highway 1 through Paekakariki will be raised to 70kmh from tomorrow as the New Zealand Transport Agency starts the next phase of work on the Paekakariki Hill Road at the town’s SH1 intersection.
