TranzMetro passengers heading from Wellington on the Waikanae and Johnsonville lines may experience delays on their commute home tonight.

TranzMetro reported the 2:44pm service from Wellington to Waikanae stopped at Porirua after a train driver had become ill in the middle of his shift.

The 4:05pm return unit from Waikanae to Wellington had been cancelled because of the employee's illness.

TranzMetro also reported another problem on the Wellington to Johnsonville line this afternoon.

The 4.45pm and 5.37pm services from Wellington to Johnsonville would have reduced seating because of a mechanical fault to a new Matangi unit.

The return 5.09pm and 6.00pm services from Johnsonville to Wellington would also have reduced seating due to the same mechanical fault problem on one of the new  Matangi units, TranzMetro reported.
