After 38 years in Wellington, the Capital Times newspaper is closing down.
Managing editor Alison Franks confirmed the last edition of the free weekly newspaper would hit the streets on April 10.
‘‘It’s just time,’’ she said, adding that financial pressure and the changing face of the printed press industry also factored in.
‘‘We have to make this decision at some stage. Is it now or is it in two years, or five years?’’
About seven fulltime positions would be lost but some staff had already found jobs before the closure was announced.
