Ute almost fully submerged after trying to cross Hutt River, right next to a bridge
A Toyota ute became stuck and almost fully submerged in the Hutt River below Melling Bridge on Friday.
A police spokeswoman said they were made aware of the situation at 2:30pm.
Once the waters subsided after 4pm, a tractor was used to haul the Toyota Hilux out of the drink.
Police arrived to find one passenger safely on the bank and another, presumed to be the driver, standing on the bonnet.
"They were trying to cross the river, and I don't know why because there was a bridge directly above it, so it seems quite odd," the spokeswoman said.
No one was injured.
