Police name man killed in forestry block incident near Gisborne

Police have named a man who died from injuries he received while working on a forestry block north of Gisborne.

He was Anthony Jason Campbell, aged 42, of Gisborne.

Emergency services were called to Tarndale Rd in the Whatatutu forest on Wednesday afternoon.    

Campbell was the second forestry worker to die at Whatatutu in less than a month.

Another Gisborne man, Hone Tamati Kaua Whaanga, 38, was found dead by workmates on March 16.

Senior Sergeant Maui Aben said WorkSafe was investigating the cause of Campbell's death in conjunction with police.
