The case against a man charged with murdering a woman in the Woodridge area of Wellington on November 26, has reached the High Court.

The man, 47, is charged with murdering Sarwan Lata Singh, 38, as well as burglary of her Kentwood Drive home, and breaching a protection order.

He was not at court for the hearing this morning.

Justice Ron Young continued an order suppressing the man's name in the meantime.

The court is waiting for reports on the man's health and the case is due back in court on December 19.

When the man first appeared in Wellington District Court he was remanded to a secure psychiatric facility.
