Eftpos glitch disrupts Boxing Day shopping

Boxing day shoppers had their bargain hunting disrupted when a Vodafone broadband issue crashed Eftpos at some Lower Hutt stores.

Vodafone spokeswoman Michelle Baguley said a broadband server was affected at 10.30 this morning and shops in the Lower Hutt and Naenae area were out of action until about 1pm.

Queensgate Mall fell victim to the fault and many shops were unable to process transactions because of the issues with the broadband.

Mrs Baguley said it was unknown how many retail outlets had been affected but Vodafone apologised to any customers who were.
