A Jetstar passenger aircraft returned to Auckland this afternoon after two landing attempts were aborted at Wellington Airport.
Wellington Airport spokeswoman Briarley Kirk said the aircraft reported difficulty with fickle winds switching from the south to the north as it approached the airport over the harbour mid afternoon.
No other flights were affected.
Jetstar spokesman Phil Boeyen said wind shear problems prompted the pilot to return to Auckland.
He expected most passengers would be accommodated on a later flight into Wellington.
