Kiwirail silent on operational incident

A train scheduled to travel from Upper Hutt and Wellington has been cancelled due to an "operational incident."

The 4.41pm service which was due to run from Upper Hutt to Wellington was cancelled at short notice today due to an operational incident, according to a message sent out to Tranzmetro train users.

However the cause of the cancellation could not be explained by the train provider. Kiwirail spokeswoman Sophie Lee, said she could not say what the operational incident was.

However she could say the incident was not an emergency and other services would not be affected.

An investigation was underway.
