A water main has burst in Lower Hutt this evening, transforming a section of a busy street into a small lake.
Motorists then drove through the flooded part of Cambridge Terrace, causing water to flow into several neighbours front yards.
Local residents said no-one showed up to fix the problem for a hour.
It was first reported at about 4:30pm.
One man had just got home from work and said "holy damn, I've got a swimming pool outside my house".
Hutt City Council contractors have arrived on the scene to fix the water main.
