Wellington has had 28.8mm of rain since 9am Friday and is not likely to fine up until Tuesday, said Metservice forecaster Ian Gall.
Mr Gall said today's weather would be more rain and drizzle, and tomorrow would be similar.
Monday's rain would be lighter, and then Tuesday mostly cloudy with some fine breaks.
Meanwhile, police are asking drivers to take care on the Haywards Hill Rd after a single car crash this morning.
Sergeant Andy Dow said the crash was not serious, but was partly blocking one lane on the southbound side so other drivers would need to take care on the SH58 road.
He said there was one person was in shock, and the car may need to be towed.
