Flights have been cancelled, delayed or diverted as sea fog, which is set to bed in overnight, closes in over Wellington city and airport.
The fog began rolling in about 6pm, and by 8:30pm about 10 flights had been affected.
MetService forecaster David Miller said the fog was not forecast to clear until mid-morning tomorrow.
The fog had drifted in from the Cook Strait as warm, humid air clashed with the colder waters in the strait.
Wellington Airport spokesman Greg Thomas advised travellers to check with the airport’s website or their airline for updates.
