Whanganui City councillor Jack Bullock has avoided prosecution for possessing cannabis, after successfully completing diversion.

In the Whanganui District Court this morning, the youngest current member of the council was granted diversion by Judge Dugald Matheson. 

Police prosecutor Stephen Butler said Bullock, whose attendance was excused, had completed the terms of his diversion and the charge could be withdrawn.

Bullock was arrested last year as part of Operation Valley, which saw 17 people arrested after police executed 15 search warrants at properties across Whanganui.
