Wellington's love of the daily grind is overflowing after New Zealand's first festival dedicated to coffee.
Caffeination was held at Shed 6 at the weekend amid the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans.
The Huhtamaki New Zealand Barista Championship was part of the festival, New Zealand's best baristas showcasing their skills.
Hanna Teramoto, of Espresso Workshop in Auckland, took out major honours, winning a trip to Italy for the 2014 world champs.
"I still can't believe it, to be honest. I'm thrilled but I feel a lot of responsibility," she said.
Wellington's Nick Clark, from Flight Coffee, was second after winning last year.
On Saturday, Rotorua McCafe's Joshua Wonjun Kim, 29, turned heads with an iced coffee flavoured with roasted kumara.
A passion for good coffee motivated him, he said.
"I'm now getting customers remembering my name and I get new customers on recommendations - people recognise me in the street."
Head judge Jessica Godfrey said coffee-makers were tested on their precision, presentation and performance.
