One person has been burned in a garage fire at a Flaxmere property.

Fire services were called to what was first reported as a ''fully involved'' house fire with people inside about 1.45pm.

When firefighters arrived at the Tarbet Place property, they found it was in fact in a double car garage behind the house, central fire communications shift manager Mike Wanoa said.

One person has been treated for burns, but there was no indication anyone else had been injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
