A cyclist has been injured and traffic is delayed after a crash in Petone this morning.

The car versus cyclist accident at 7.29am happened at the intersection of Hutt Rd and Nevis St, Petone, Lower Hutt.

Being near an on-ramp to State Highway 2 into Wellington, delays were expected this morning, police said. The scene was cleared by 8.20am.

The cyclist suffered a hip injury.

Delays are also expected northbound on the Ngauranga Gorge out of Wellington this morning with a lane was closed for roadworks.

Police said an earlier three-car nose-to-tail crash, southbound on State Highway 2, between Pomare Rd And Grounsell Cres, had now been cleared.
