Police investigating a suspected meth lab in Lower Hutt were surprised to be told the setup was used to make fuel for pyrotechnics.
The Fire Service and specialist staff were called after police raided a home in Waione St, Petone about 3pm yesterday.
Inside they found chemicals, glassware and utensils similar to those used to make methamphetamine. A white powder, which looked like methamphetamine was also found.
A man at the home later told police the setup was used for making fuel for pyrotechnic devices.
