There were delays of about half an hour on the Hutt line this morning after a train broke down.

The 10.05am service from Wellington to Melling broke down at Petone station and blocked the tracks for a time, meaning no northbound trains could run.

The train was towed away just after noon today.

The 10.35am train from Wellington station was cancelled and other services suspended.

Some southbound services were replaced by buses.
