A 27-year-old male was left with serious injuries after an assault in Wainuiomata on Saturday night.

Police said just after midnight, four males were involved in a fight outside the Caltex Service Station on The Strand.

Two males than fled the scene at high speed in a blue four-door sedan.

The victim was been left with serious injuries and taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who was at the service station or in the area and witnessed what happened.
