Fire fighters were called to Ava Railway Station in Lower Hutt today to deal with a burning bush.

A Fire Communications spokeswoman said the Hutt Valley fire service responded to reports of a toi toi bush on fire at the station on North St just after 1pm.

They arrived to find people trying to put the fire out with buckets of water. It was eventually extinguished with water and foam.

No-one was hurt.
