A cyclist has been injured in a collision with a four-wheel-drive on Hutt Rd into Wellington.

A witness saw the male cyclist collide with the four-wheel-drive, which was turning in to a car dealership on Hutt Rd, near Ngaio Gorge about 9am.

''He hit pretty bloody hard,'' the witness said. The cyclist was seen flying through the air after the collision.

A Wellington Free Ambulance spokeswoman said the male cyclist was being treated at the scene.

He was in a moderate condition, she said.

Both vehicles were heading towards Wellington City.
