A cyclist has been taken to hospital with leg injuries following a collision with a car on an entrance to the Hutt motorway.

Police were called to attend the incident at Pharazyn St, the motorway on-ramp to State Highway 2 by Melling Station, about 12.10 today.

A 31-year-old male cyclist was taken to Hutt Hospital's emergency department with moderate injuries including a gash to his leg after the crash, a Wellington Free Ambulance spokesman said.
