Commuters have encountered delays heading into Wainuiomata this evening after a driver crashed into a barrier on the Wainuiomata hill road shortly after 5pm.

The accident happened in the left-hand Wainuiomata-bound lane.

The male driver was not injured, police say.

One Wainuiomata-bound lane remains clear, and both lanes should shortly be free-flowing, police say.
