An 80-person brawl after an Otaki 21st resulted in a 20-year-old man heading to hospital after being bottled.

The party was at Otaki Race Course and when it finished about 80 partygoers started fighting and one man was attacked with a broken beer bottle.

Police arrived at about 2am on Sunday to find two groups of people fighting and called an ambulance for the injured man.

He was taken to Wellington Hospital and transferred to Hutt Hospital for treatment.

Police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made so far.
