A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a woman's body in Wellington earlier today.

The body of 33-year-old mother-of-two Amanda Dawn Taufale was found in her home on Sunrise Boulevard in Tawa just before 8am this morning.

A 38-year-old man was charged with murder just after 9pm.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam said, at this stage, police were not seeking anyone else in connection to the crime.

"I know this will come as a relief to Amanda's family.

"The investigation team is still working hard to understand the exact events leading up to Amanda's death."

He would not reveal details of Taufale’s injuries ahead of an autopsy which will be performed tomorrow.

He confirmed a relative of Taufale had found her body this morning.

Her two sons were both home at the time.

"They are traumatised. They have just lost their mother which is awful," Oxnam said.

Police are still appealing for anyone who has seen a late model blue Toyota Hatchback, registration GMB108, to come forward.

From 5am tomorrow morning police will be asking train commuters at Takapu Rd railway station if they had seen the vehicle in the area since Wednesday.

Anyone with information can contact police on inquiry hotline 0800 485 380, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
