A motorist and their passengers escaped without injury this afternoon when they lost of control of a car and plunged into the Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve.

Inspector Ian Harris said police were called to the scene of the crash on Grays Rd, near the intersection of Paekakariki Hill Rd about 2.30pm.

The car had plunged up to 30 metres into the estuary, Mr Harris said.
