Woman who died after being hit by car in Paekakariki car named

The fatal crash was the second major accident on the Kapiti coast over the weekend.

Police have named the pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on Sunday morning in Paekakariki.

She was 56-year-old Caroline Boyd, of Wellington.

The woman was hit on Wellington Rd, in the Kapiti village, shortly before 10.30am.

Police said the driver was assisting with enquiries, and no one else was being sought.

The 50kmh road had recently been resealed.

The crash was the second major accident on the Kapiti coast over the weekend.

On Saturday a two-car crash on the old State Highway 1 left one driver in a critical condition in Wellington Hospital, and another injured.
