Firefighters in Levin were called out twice late last night after heavy rain caused flooding.

Fire chief Lindsay Walker said the first call, at 10.15pm, was to the Menz Shed, where a leaking roof had activated the fire alarm and caused some minor flooding.

The owner of the building was alerted.

About an hour later a blocked stormwater drain had water up to knee level in some places outside a Winchester St home at its peak. The water had started to enter the garage.

Mr Walker said the brigade helped clear debris out of the drain.
