Bill Stirling (Letters, September 6) must have been reading a different letter to the one I read from Councillor Rush about the costs of the community centre.

I find his letters to be very long on rhetoric but very short on facts.

From information supplied by Mr Ward and I quote:

"It is anticipated that 27 full time staff will be employed at the community centre, an increase of 10 from the existing library staff complement.

Individual and total wages and salary costs are subject to the individuals ultimately appointed.

However, the total wages and salary costs for senior staff will be approximately $1.3 million annually.

The projected running costs for the complex, including salaries, is $2 million annually."

This whole project is just another mill stone around the necks of already over-burdened, long-suffering ratepayers.
