Thousands of people have taken photographs of the Christmas lights displays at Lindy Naylor's house at 27 Hathaway Ave over the years.

But a bridal shoot was a first.

Wellington photographer Kent Yu thought the bright lights would provide an unusual and compelling backdrop for a model in a wedding gown, and he also wanted to capture the joy Christmas lights bring to children.

He was pleased with the results.

The Hathaway Ave display is a major fundraising event for the Hutt Water Polo Club's coaching development programme. Each year the players help Lindy deck out the property with tens of thousands of lights, toys and Christmas figures.

The display is open every night from 8.30pm until December 23. $2 a person, under 5s free.
