Mayor Ray Wallace married Linda Goss, in a private ceremony in Moores Valley on January 19.

The couple recently returned from their honeymoon in Rarotonga.

Although a few close friends were present, most of the 80 guests were relatives.

The ceremony reflected Mr Wallace's Scottish heritage, with the service featuring a Scottish piper who played The Flower of Scotland.

The mayor was attired in his traditional Scottish kilt and the formal regalia of the Wallace clan, which was bought from local firm Kildonan Highland House.

The garden was decorated in Scottish accessories and accessories to reflect the brides' purple theme.

Photographer Ross de Rouffignac used Petone Beach as a backdrop for the wedding photos.

Mayor Wallace told Hutt News that it was important to use local firms and products, and he was pleased that with his busy schedule he finally got time to tie the knot.

Wife Linda had a different take on events.

"The mayor's Mainland Cheese Philosophy of life that 'good things take time' finally came to fruition."
