A small part of Petone will be illuminated this week as members of the Hutt Valley's IDEA Services vocational centres create a Magic Forest Glow Show at the Farsite Gallery.

It's a collaborative installation with a difference - visitors will see the show from outside the gallery.

"It's the first time we know of that something like this has been done in the Hutt," said Jules Hunt from Dudley Arthouse.

The gallery will be blacked out inside with the Magic Forest, which has been coloured with fluorescent paint, lit by UV light within. The plan is to have peep holes in the windows at varying heights giving different views of the forest.

"All five of our centres took on the creation of part of the forest and they've all done a great job."

The show is the first time all five IDEA Services centres have worked together to create a show.

Small groups who wish to arrange a private viewing can call Dudley Arthouse on 566 8420.
