Porirua's Windmill Quality Cake Shop took won five bronze medals at the recent New Zealand Bakery of the Year awards.
Michael Thomas and his team entered eight of the 15 categories, sending their baking to the Auckland Food Show for judging.
They placed third in choux pastry (eclairs), danish pastry, fruit cake, hot cross buns and iced cupcakes.
"We are rapt, it was a great team effort with everyone contributing," Mr Thomas says.
The Windmill team beat their previous haul of three medals and were the only bakery in Porirua to place at the competition.
