Festive spirit was in full effect in Porirua over the weekend as thousands turned out for public Christmas celebrations.

The CBD was a hive of activity on Saturday, as families enjoyed sideshow attractions, bouncy castles, bungy challenges, music and a visit from Santa Claus, at the Xmas Carnival Under the Canopies.

Later in the day, Elsdon Park was the the place to be for Christmas in the Park. This year's concert and singalong included The Funky Monkeys, George McArdle of Little River Band and a fireworks finale.
