Two people were taken to hospital after a car rolled several times after leaving the road near MacKays Crossing about 2pm yesterday.

Sergeant Sam Gilpin said it appeared a northbound driver drove into the back of another car, sending the front vehicle into flax bushes.

The 50-year-old Raumati driver crawled out of the car after it came to rest on its roof, but was taken to Wellington Hospital with suspected neck injuries. Inquiries are continuing.
