The see-through plastic roof of the Coastlands Aquatic Centre is expected to be completed before Christmas.

Contractors have been rolling out the plastic roof over top of the timber lattice frame over the past weeks.

Kapiti Coast District Council community services group manager Tamsin Evans said once the roof is completed and the building is closed in, work will "really pick up on the interior fit-out, because at the moment there's still scaffolding in the main pool till the roof's completed".

Ms Evans said the project is on track for completion by the end of March.
