Big Daddy Wilson is bringing "back to the roots acoustic blues" to Kapiti and Horowhenua.

Born and raised in North Carolina in the United States, the blues musician has lived in Germany for much of his adult life.

Travelling New Zealand on his Acoustic Duo tour he will perform alongside old bandmate Steve "Guitar" Giles, also of Germany, and Dunedin "folkpop" band Delgirl.

Big Daddy Wilson recently released his second album, Thumb A Ride, recorded with his trio of blues musicians. Promoter Simon Vare says the album showcases Wilson's voice, described as "rich and smooth as treacle" and original songwriting made to sound like the blues of old with a more "sparse and authentic" production.
