Te Horo's Country Garden Tour is back for the third year on Sunday.

The biannual event showcases a range of gardens in the Te Horo district, with 11 taking part in this year's tour.

There will also be stalls at some gardens selling food, plants, jewellery and crafts.

Organiser Debbie Laing said there is a great range of gardens this year, from formally planted sections to well established gardens on big properties.

There is also a garden by the beach, and a cut flower block for growing winter flowers, she said.

It is also a great chance to have a picnic, and packed lunches can be ordered in advance.

''The garden owners work tirelessly on their gardens for months beforehand to get them ready,'' she said.

''It's just a really enjoyable day out wandering around seeing some amazing properties.''

The tour is a fundraiser for the Te Horo community, this year raising money for Te Horo School's new hall.

Te Horo's Country Garden Tour, 9am-5pm October 28, Te Horo.

Tickets are $12 from Harrisons Garden Centre and Paraparaumu and Otaki I-site.

Tickets will be available on the day for $15 from any of the signposted gardens.

Maps will be given out with the tickets.
