Timely promotion for Cunliffe Editorial: Lessons to be learned from pool Consents don't make highway Was Cunliffe the answer? It was disturbing to read of another dog attack (Dog attacks woman at river, October 29).

When are dog owners going to take some responsibility for their animals? The locals in our area always seem to have their dogs leashed, however since the pathway was extended through the Waterstone area to Southwards we have noticed the non-locals seem to let their dogs run wild and have witnessed wildlife being killed, dogs doing their business and owners just keep on walking away oblivious to the desecration of a wildlife area.

The council seems reluctant to increase signs, which are probably irrelevant to dog owners anyway, who seem to have attitude issues, so maybe it's timely to spread some chocolate and rid ourselves of these pests. If they were humans they would be tasered.
