The new Mornington Golf Club will tee off with a grand opening in the former Berhampore Bowling Club in Stanley St on November 17.

The bowling club’s lease expired in June and Mornington Golf Club, looking for new premises, agreed to take on the lease.

Morning Golf Club president Ray Tuffin said he hoped the merger would result in some golfers turning their heads to bowling as well.

Wellington mayor Celia Wade-Brown will open the new facility at 12.30pm.

After the opening, there will be a nine-hole golf tournament and a bowls tournament, both free to the public and members.

There will also be a children’s pitch and putt competition.
