More than $42,000 has been granted to six Makara community projects in the latest allocation from Meridian Energy's West Wind Community Fund.

Projects supported in this round of funding include:

- Makara Playcentre, $22,000 to help repile the historic Makara Playcentre building.

- Karori Golf Club, $8,000 to help develop ground facilities and buy equipment for the club's new pitch and putt course.

- Makaracarpas, $6558 for the purchase of 20 possum and stoat trap sets for pest control in the Makara area.

- Makara Tennis Club, $616 for the purchase two new tennis nets for the club.

- Makaracarpas $1,762 to buy shade-cloth screens to protect native plantings at the Makara Beach car park.

- Makara Community Centre Association, $4170 to buy a defibrillator for Makara Village.
